Welcome to my heart

What follows are some poems that I have written at various times and all are from deep within the heart. Some might make you smile, some might create a tear, but whichever it is I hope that it either strikes a chord or echoes an emotion within you, the reader. Each one has a story behind it and from time to time I may expand on the story behind the story. It can be 'sloopy', it can be 'soft' but it is poetry as I know how, nothing clever  - just simple rhyming verse. Please enjoy.

Absent

How I miss your smiling face
Your warm and tender touch
I miss the love you put in place
I miss you ever so much

How I wish to hold your hand
And walk for mile upon mile
To make fresh footprints in the sand
And maybe rest a while

To laugh, to love, to live once more
To spend my life with you
For you’re the one that I adore
Believe it, girl,…it’s true

Ode to Emily

This one was written for my unborn child. It was written in 2007, five years after her passing and its completion allowed me to grieve for the first time

Created in love
Like a gift from above
But taken before you came
I never got to kiss you
But believe me I miss you
And the wind still whispers your name

Though you never survived
You still touched my life
And within me you'll always remain
Your lungs never breathed
And I never grieved
But the wind still carries your name

So run free, my child
Be happy, be wild,
Dance on the shimmering seas
Skip through the meadows
And play in the shadows
You live on and you are the breeze
